It Is Never Rude Or Selfish;
Middle of junior year came; I hadn’t gone out with anyone since I broke up with Henry. It wasn’t just because I had my heart broken I knew that. I was pretty sure it had to do with my secret admirer.
I honestly thought that he would stop talking to me after everything that happened but he didn’t he kept talking to me and he made me smile, I was happy and trying so hard to figure out who he was.
SA: hey. So how’s it going?
Anne: It’s going pretty good. How about you?
SA: same.
Anne: I have a question for you.
SA: I have an answer.
Anne: I was hoping you would say that.
SA: So what’s the question?
Anne: Who are you?
SA: nope not going to tell you.
Anne: you said you had an answer meaning you have to answer.
The bell rang and I got up from my lunch table and went to photography. Once I got there I sat down in my normal seat and took out some of the photographs I had taken over the weekend at my cousins wedding, when I felt my phone vibrate. I took out my phone and saw I had a text message.
SA: Yes I did say that but if I told you then where would the fun be?
Anne: can you give me a hint then?
SA: like what?
Anne: what color hair you have, or what color your eyes are. Your first initial. What class you’re in right now. Anything that can give me a hint to who you are.
SA: ok. I’ll give you two. Brown hair Blue eyes.
Anne: thanks.
SA: no prob. I’ll talk to you later.
I put my phone in my pocket and got out my film so I could develop it. When class ended I walked to my locker where I found a white lily taped to it. I took off the lily and looked around at the people when I felt my phone vibrate. I quickly opened my locker and got what I needed to take home and pulled my phone out.
SA: hey, did you like the flower?
Anne: yes! Lilies are my favorite. How did you know?
SA: Lilly told me.
Anne: wait, so now Lilly knows who you are?
SA: yes she does. Actually she always has
Anne: your kidding me, and she never told me
SA: well I guess she’s really good at keeping secrets
Anne: yep I guess she is, So, why did you give me a lily?
I closed my locker and walked out to my car and sat and waited for a reply.
SA: Well, I was actually going to ask you a question
Anne: and what is that question, because I might have an answer
SA: Do you want to go out with me?
Anne: absolutely
SA: Ok then, I will pick you up at 6
Anne: What are we going to do?
I was so happy I had the widest grin on my face. I couldn’t wait for tonight.
SA: that’s a surprise
Anne: well then how do I know to dress?
SA: lol casual
Anne: ok I’ll see you at 6
SA: yep
I put my phone away.
I looked at the clock and saw that it was 3:30. I drove home, did all my homework, took a shower, did my hair, put on a little make-up, and put on a pair of jeans and a form fitting blue t-shirt. When I looked at the clock and saw that it was 5:50. I had ten minutes to spare and wait for my secret admirer to come get me.
The door bell rang at exactly 6 o’clock. I went to the door and paused for a few seconds before I opened it. I was so nervous; there were butterflies in my stomach. What if he took one look at me and changed his mind? I took a deep breath and opened the door. Standing there was a tall guy with shaggy brown hair, ocean blue eyes that sparkled, high distinguished cheek bones, and the most beautiful smile ever hold a beautiful bouquet of white lilies.
“Hey, I’m your secret admirer, Andrew. That sounded so much better in my head.” Andrew had this deep, husky voice. We laughed a little, then Andrew handed me the flowers.
“Thank You, there beautiful, but you really didn’t have to get them for me.” I said smiling and opening the door some more to let him in.
“It was nothing.” He said stepping into the house.
“Let me put these in some water and we can get going.” The smile on my face never disappeared as I went to the kitchen to put the flowers in water. “Ok we can go now.”
“Yeah, let’s get going.” Andrew said as he took my hand and we walked out the door to his car.
“So, are you going to tell me where we are going?”
“Nope, you’ll have to wait and see.” I looked over at Andrew and smiled, he looked over at me and smiled as he pulled to a stop at the corner of the my street
The drive was never silent; it was spent with Andrew and I talking about anything and everything that came to mind.
“You remembered my favorite place to eat.” I said once we arrived at this old 50’s diner.
“I’m always thinking about you Anna.” Andrew said as he smiled at me.
“Ah, that’s so sweet.” I said leaning over and giving him a kiss on the cheek. We both smiled at each other before we got out of the car and walked into the diner.
“What can I get for you two?” The waitress asked after we sat down. Andrew looked at me and gestured for me to go first.
“Can I get a cheeseburger and a raspberry iced tea, please?”
“Of course, and for you, sir?”
“I’ll have the same with a coke.”
“Alright your drinks will be out in a minutes.” The waitress said before she walked away.
“So, did I disappoint you?” Andrew asked a few minutes later after our drinks arrived.
“What? Disappoint me? How?”
“I don’t know.” Andrew looked at his hands that were holding his glass of coke.
“I don’t know how you could disappoint me. You are far form a disappointment.” I said to him as I took his hands.
“Oh, really now?” Andrew said with a playful look on his face.
“Hey, no teasing now.”
“So, you’re happy?”
“Couldn’t be happier.”
After dinner we went to the park and walked around hand in hand talking about random things and telling funny stories about our childhood. The only time we stopped laughing was when one of us would tell a serious story.
It started to get cold and I started to shiver so Andrew gave me his jacket and wrapped his arm around my shoulders before we started to walk towards his car so he could drive me home.
Once we got to my house Andrew walked me to my door and we stood outside for a few minutes saying goodbye before Andrew slowly started to lean in but stopped an inch from my lips, like his was asking for permission so I closed the gap and Andrew gave me a slow romantic kiss that made my heartbeat race.
“Ok, so, I’ll pick you up tomorrow morning and give you a ride to school.” Andrew said with his arms still around my waist and mine around his neck.
“Yeah, I’ll see you tomorrow morning.” I said as I let go of Andrew and opened the door, “Oh here’s your jacket.” I said as I started to take it off.
“No it’s fin you keep it.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, it looks better on you anyway.”
“Thank you. I had a great time tonight.”
“Me too, I’ll see you tomorrow.” Andrew said and than gave me a quick kiss goodnight before he went back to his car and drove away.
